OAD ORTHOPAEDICS PHYSICIANS NAMED TO "TOP DOCTORS" LIST

September 20, 2001, Wheaton, IL - OAD Orthopaedics physicians, Stephen E. Heim, M.D. and Richard K. Thomas, M.D., were recognized as "Top Doctors" in the Chicago Metro Area in the 2001 Castle Connolly Guide to Top Doctors.

"The award was particularly meaningful to me as it came from physicians. I just don't know who to thank," stated Dr. Heim. Stephen Heim, M.D., spine specialist, graduated from Northwestern University Medical School and remained at Northwestern for his internship and residency. He completed a fellowship in the treatment of back and cervical spine problems at the Midwest Regional Spine Trauma Center in Chicago. Dr. Heim currently serves as Co-Medical Director of the Neuro-Spine Unit, Central DuPage Hospital, and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

"I feel fortunate to be practicing in a group with such fine physicians," stated Dr. Thomas. Richard K. Thomas, M.D., hand care specialist, earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Memorial Hospital South Bend, followed by a research fellowship in orthopaedic oncology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He completed an orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri followed by a hand and microsurgery fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Thomas is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand. "There is no need to go to Chicago," said Dr. Thomas, "since we have such state-of-the-art hand care right here in the western suburbs."
